Kanagawa Prefecture Installs First ever Seabins in Japan

With the desire for ever-increasing Sustainability action as a priority of World Sailing, Kanagawa Prefecture has installed the first two Seabins into Japanese waters on 15 May. These two Seabins have been installed within Enoshima Yacht Habour which will be the venue for the 2019 Hempel World Cup Series Enoshima and Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

The Seabin mission, as stated on their website, is simple yet powerful, “Our mission statement is simple: To live in a world without the need forSeabins.”

Certainly, as these two Seabins get to work collecting floating debris and microplastics, from the Enoshima harbour, the Kanagawa Prefectural offices are supporting the international ocean clean up.

Hempel World Cup Series Enoshima committee is committed to supporting World Sailing’s ‘Sustainability Agenda 2030’ initiative and seeing these twoSeabins installed is great news for us all. We all say thank you to Kanagawa Prefecture for their love of the ocean.
